Section 111 Alert: Revised Timeline for TPOC Liability Settlements

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has released a new “Alert” (dated November 9, 2010) as part of the agency’s Mandatory Insurer Reporting directives for non-group health plans per Section 111 of the Medicare, Medicaid & SCHIP Extension Act.   

Through this new Alert, CMS has (a) revised the implementation timeline regarding the reporting of TPOCs for liability (including self-insurance) settlements, judgments, awards or other payments and (b) extended the applicable time periods regarding its Section 111 interim dollar reporting threshold exceptions.
